It’s relatively easy to decide if you want to pull a travel trailer or drive a motor home, but once you’ve made that decision, deciding the size of your RV can seem overwhelming. Do you want extra space and luxury or low gas mileage and driveability? Enter the 2014 Winnebago Era 170X – a seemingly perfect combination of luxury and driveability.
The Technical Stuff
Although it may be more exciting to examine the interior features of this campervan, the engine is equally, if not more, impressive. The 24-foot-long Winnebago Era 170X contains a Mercedes V6 turbo diesel engine that gets a comfortable 17-19 miles-per-gallon. Not only fuel efficient, this motor home is easy to handle in tight spaces and drives as smoothly as you’d expect from any Mercedes vehicle.
It’s hard not to correlate size with luxury, but the Winnebago Era 170X may change your expectations. Enjoy many of the features of a class A motor home, such as a refrigerator, microwave, furnace, stove, DVD player, flat-screen TV, and GPS navigation. Even more, this vehicle offers comfortable leather furniture, plenty of closet space, and modern cabinetry to help you feel even more at home in your RV.
There’s no denying that the outside appearance of your RV is important, and the Winnebago Era 170X isn’t lacking much in the curb-appeal department. Although, what you’ll really appreciate about the exterior of your RV is the power awning, backup monitor and keyless entry. Not only does the backup monitor aid with safety, it’s the icing on the cake for the driveability of this vehicle.
Although disadvantages of the Era 170X are tough to find, the vehicle may not be suitable for families. While some models do come with enough sleeping space for four, the bathroom space and sleeper sofa really suggest that this is a vehicle for two.
