Featured Fifth Wheel: Forest River Cedar Creek 38FL

cedar38-1Designed for experienced and discerning RVers, the Forest River Cedar Creek 38FL fifth wheel pushes luxury living to another level with this dynamic living room forward model.

If you’re looking for a cozy nest above it all and the convenience of accessing your master bedroom and bath without navigating steps, look no further than the Cedar Creek 38FL from the premium Hathaway fifth wheel collection by Forest River.

There is nothing basic about the Cedar Creek 38FL. Made with state-of-the-art construction techniques, top-grade building components and all aluminum super-structure covered by a bonded pearl gel coat exterior, the Cedar Creek 38 FL is unequaled in quality and style.

At slightly more than 40 feet in total length and 96 inches in width – which is made even more expansive by the five strategically located slide outs  – the Cedar Creek 38FL is roomy enough for seasonal camping and spacious enough for entertaining a crowd.

cedar38-2

From the moment you enter the fifth wheel from one of the two entry doors – one on either side – and stand under the industry-leading 6-foot-9 inch tall radius ceiling you’ll be surrounded by a feeling of spaciousness and home-like luxury.

At the heart of the Cedar Creek 38FL is a fully-equipped home-like kitchen, made more spacious by a slide out that holds a free standing, expandable table and four chairs as well as a 20-cubic foot residential stainless steal refrigerator. The L-shaped golden glazed European beech raised panel cabinetry with Baltic birch side and end cabinetry hold generous storage drawers on full-extension glides.  Overhead cabinets feature hidden hinge construction and are finished with complimenting crown molding. Granite-light counter tops provide ample work room and a double aluminum sink makes clean up a snap.

cedar38-3

The kitchen also features a residential-style three-burner cook top and oven and 30-inch over-the-range microwave with built in exhaust fan and a floor-to-ceiling pantry with easy-to-organize pull-out drawers.

Completing the kitchen is a handy built in desk for organizing, planning or plugging in your laptop.

For those who crave the convenience of bathroom, bedroom and kitchen all on one level, head toward the rear of the RV to the full-size side aisle bathroom.

cedar38-4

The spa-like bath features an overhead cabinet and decorator granite-light sink and vanity with matching medicine cabinet. The Cedar Creek 38 FL bathroom features a 48-inch residential, one-piece fiberglass rectangular shower with sliding glass doors, a large seat and an upgraded shower head. An 18-inch circular flow porcelain toilet and generous linen cabinet complete the bathroom.

For added convenience, the Cedar Creek 38FL’s second entry opens directly into the hallway across from the bathroom, making clean up from a busy day in the great outdoors easy to access.

Continue to the rear of the trailer and into the master bedroom, a private retreat that combines comfort, convenience and luxury. A slide out on either side makes the room feel even larger and maximizes storage for the long haul. At the heart of the master bedroom, tucked into one slide out, is 60 by 80-inch Serta Dreamscape Lux Retreat mattress. For those needing even more comfort, upgrade to the Trump Home Lux Retreat mattress for a five-star sleep. cedar38-5

At the foot of the bed, fitted into the second bedroom slide out, is an expansive built-in, designer cabinetry floor-to-ceiling wardrobe and entertainment center, wired and ready for a flat-screen TV.

cedar386

For added convenience, a built in closet is plumbed and ready for your washer and dryer. The laundry closet includes ample storage and plenty of hanging space.

Travel back across the 38FL on the residential grade Shaw carpeting through the kitchen and up two wide stairs to the front of the unit to savor the jewel crowning this fifth wheel: the spacious and comfortable above-the cab living room featuring a centerpiece state-of-the art entertainment center.  Two opposing slide outs hold residential-quality leather sofas. A matching La-Z-boy recliner adds still more seating, providing plenty of room for large gatherings or cozy movie nights.

cedar38-7

The beautifully crafted entertainment center holds a 46-inch TV mounted above the built-in fireplace.

From the front fireplace to the rear bedroom, the Cedar Creek 38FL is brimming with thoughtful features to make RV adventures comfortable and practical including a Dirt Devil CV950 central vacuum cleaning system with VacPan automatic dustpan at entry door and Quiet Zone “HP” (High Performance Compressor) 15,000 BTU air conditioner with cold air returns.  Upscale window treatments – decor coordinated valances top day screen and blackout-window treatments – keep your unit cool and private.

Spicing Up Leftovers

Screen Shot 2013-12-09 at 12.38.34 PM

Cooking is an integral part of RV traveling whether it’s on the grill, on the stove, or over a campfire. One of the results of cooking is having leftovers. This is good for the next day, but what happens if you have something that produces leftovers for a couple of days? The answer to that is finding innovative recipes to spice it up so it’s an exciting new meal.

Speaking of leftovers, Reines RV Center has some super end of the year specials on 2013 travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels and motorhomes. Stop by for a look-see and be ready to roll in 2014 with a sweet deal. Once you’re on the road, consider these hearty recipes to make up some tasty meals.

Baked Sausage and Pepper Ziti

If you’ve prepared Italian sausage for dinner and have several links left over, this recipe will stick to your ribs.

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Cook an 8 ounce package of ziti pasta per cooking instructions.
  • Slice leftover sweet or spicy Italian sausages into 1/4-inch slices. (4 links, or 12 ounces)
  • In a separate pan, heat 2 tsps. of oil over medium heat. Add a medium sized onion and 1 red bell pepper, chopped. Add 2 chopped cubanelle peppers and the Italian sausage.
  • In a large bowl, mix 1 cup mozzarella, 1 cup ricotta, 1/4 cup each parsley and Parmesan.
  • Drain pasta. Add the cheese mixture, sausage, and 1 cup of marinara sauce. Blend thoroughly.
  • Pour mixture into a shallow baking dish and top with 1 cup of marinara sauce. Top with 1/2 cup mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, uncovered. Serves 6.

Salisbury Steak

Use leftover hamburgers in this easy recipe.

  • Flour each side of 4 hamburger patties. Place in a skillet with butter and brown both sides. Drain.
  • Add 1 cup beef broth, 1 sliced onion, 1 small package of fresh, cleaned and sliced mushrooms, and 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce.
  • Stir the mixture and coat the hamburgers with the sauce.
  • Simmer for 25 minutes, covered.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes.

Is it Time for a New RV?

Maybe your RV is a classic, maybe it improves with age, maybe it just needs a few repairs to be good as new, and maybe it’s falling apart at the seams and it’s about time to head to Reines RV to pick out a new one. Here are three signs that your RV is beyond simple at-home repairs.

Bent Axles

If there’s nothing else wrong with the RV, a bent axle is no big deal… or rather, it is a big deal, but it’s probably worth replacing. It’s one of those expensive repairs, however, and once you have two bent axles and a frame that’s falling to pieces, it may wind up being less expensive to trade in than to repair.

Cracked Engine Blocks

If you’re looking for a repair job that will cost you a lot of money, time, and headaches, look at a cracked engine block. Even when you can get it fixed for less than you might expect, the investment of time and energy is usually just plain not worth it.

Extensive Visible Damage

For the most part, any damage to the interior or siding is going to be pretty superficial. You can replace most furniture and paneling, you can fix the plumbing wth some pipes, tubing and PVC cement. You don’t really need to consider replacing the whole thing until it gets to the point where you’re replacing almost every single inch of wood, siding, paneling and furniture in the RV. Otherwise, you probably don’t need to consider a replacement RV until you have some substantial damage to the frame, chassis, axles, or engine.

Replacing your RV is a tough decision. You never know for certain that your old one simply cannot be salvaged, and sometimes we don’t find out until we’ve already spent thousands on repairs. These signs will help, though.

If it is time for a replacement, come to Reines RV for your next new RV in Virginia!

Must Have Accessories For A RV Trip

If you’re heading out on the open highway, whether you’re traveling around Virginia or taking a long, out-of-state trip, there area few items that you’re going to want to bring along on your RV. Here are a few suggestions for your next big trip:

Shades

A manual roll sun visor is really a must-have in the Spring when it can get really bright and really hot. You’ll really be thankful for it when you’re taking shifts driving and somebody is stuck trying to get some shut-eye with the hot sun beating down on their eyelids. Grab a few roll type visors and you’ll be able to cruise in comfort in the warmer months of Spring and Summer.

Sealant

Not the most exciting accessory to keep on hand, but sealant is nevertheless a necessity for the supplies you keep on your RV. In the off chance you get a crack or something comes loose while you’re on the road, it’s always best to be prepared. The last thing you need is to need a shower after a long day’s drive and then find that the seal around the showerhead is loose and letting all the water out before it reaches you.

Water Softener

You never know what’s going on with the water at any given camp site, so a portable water softener can help to ensure that your water isn’t loaded with calcium. This will help in more ways than one, making it safer to drink and safer to use to shower and clean with.

The challenge with traveling is the unpredictability of it all. As long as you go prepared, though, you should be fine. What are your necessities on your RV trips?

2013 Winnebago Vista

2013 Winnebago Vista

In the case of motor homes, the 2013 Winnebago Vista line has created a lot of buzz. It starts with the legendary Winnebago SuperStructure construction standards. Perhaps thermo-panel sidewalls, laser-cut tubing, embedded steel and a one piece, crowned fiberglass roof aren’t the sexiest part of these motor homes for sale, but they are a solid reason Winnebago’s are such a good investment.

The Vistas grab attention with their stunning good looks. Choices of exterior treatments provide the Vista with contemporary styling with the traditional Winnebago brand name. All models provide surprising storage, and carpeting is limited to the cab for easy cleaning.

There are also loads of standard amenities that add value to the Vista line, including Ultraleather swivel cab seats and powered awnings. Powered awnings seem like a small amenity, but until you’ve used one, it is hard to truly appreciate their day-to-day convenience. You will love it! The Vista motor homes come in five versatile floor plans, with one sure to fit your lifestyle. Lets take a quick look at the five.

  • The new Vista 26HE is a coach that is fun to drive with all the essentials you need for your motorhome adventures.
  • The 27N offers amazing storage space with large exterior compartments and even a spacious wardrobe slide-out.
  • Looking for a floor plan with sofa and dining options and a motorhome that provides more space? Check out the 30T.
  • The Vista 35B really steps it up a notch with plenty of room for the kids or grandkids. The 35B can sleep seven, and includes two bathrooms, including a master bath with an extra large shower.
  • The 35F also offers some big space, with a floor plan that includes an extendable sectional sofa, loads of legroom, two baths and a big shower.

If you are looking for motorhomes for sale, it is worth your while to check out the Winnebago Vistas at Reines RV Center, serving Virginia and the region since 1946.
