Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park

Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley of Northern Virginia, the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park offers deep American history coupled with breathtaking outdoor scenery that simply shouldn’t be missed. These national park grounds served as a home for Native Americans, pioneers and soldiers that fought in the Battle of Cedar Creek. If you haven’t visited the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park in Virginia yet, you’d better start planning your RV getaway today.

Things to Do at the Park

The Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park serves to protect the Belle Grove Plantation, the site of the Battle of Cedar Creek and the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley. Visitors can enjoy the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP Visitor Contact Station, the Belle Grove Plantation Manor House, the Hupp’s Hill Civil War Park and the Cedar Creek Battlefield Plantation Headquarters.

Rangers conduct a number of regular programs to teach visitors about the rich history of the area, and a number of movies, tours and orientation programs are open to the public. The extensive list of events for the fall of 2014 are listed on the national park’s website, so you can plan your trip according to your interests.

Park Hours and Fees

The Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP does not charge any fees to its visitors, and the numerous ranger programs are open to the public as well. Non-park visitor facilities like the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation and Belle Grove Plantation are not part of the national park’s non-profit organization and may charge a fee for entry.

The National Historic Park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but it is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. The Belle Grove Plantation and Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation may operate on different hours than the national park, so check their individual websites before visiting.

Stocking Up For Fall

Summer may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean your RV travels have to end. After all, the fall camping season offers more comfortable temperatures in many regions of the country, and the snowbird winter season follows shortly after.

To help you prepare for your upcoming fall RV road trips, we’ve chosen a few of our favorite products from the Reines RV Center online parts catalog.

Freedom Box Awning

If you’re one of the many RV enthusiasts who head south for the fall and winter, you’ll have plenty more days of warm air and sunshine headed your way. The Freedom WM 3.0M by Carefree of Colorado is one of the top box awnings you can get for your van conversion or truck camper. It’s available in manual and push-button models, so you can be lounging in the shade just moments after you pull up to the campsite.

LED Light Strip

The 16-foot-long LED light strip with remote by Facteon is perfect for those warm fall evenings spent outside. You no longer need to build a fire (unless you want to) or buy expensive porch lights, this inexpensive LED light strip easily turns on and off with a remote and offers fun special effects.

Super Streak Cleaner

Fall cleaning for your RV can be just as important as spring cleaning, and the Super Streak multi-purpose cleaner is one of our favorites here at Reines. It works great to remove black streaks and grime on your engine, tools, fiberglass, grills, awnings and just about anywhere inside or outside of your RV.

Two Bike Bumper Mount

This simple bike bumper mount by Swagman/Danik is one of the easiest to use on the market. It fits on any 4-inch or 4.5-inch square bumper, and is made of heavy-duty steel, so you can tote your bikes along on journey after journey. This particular model holds two bicycles, but for a slightly higher price, Swagman/Danik produces a four bike model.
