And with Oktoberfests spread throughout the state from the tail end of September through October, you can spend your fall months taking in the gorgeous Virginia weather with a dose of German culture. The following are our favorite Virginia Oktoberfest celebrations that shouldn’t be missed this fall.

Oktoberfest Reedville

This year mark’s Reedville’s fifth Oktoberfest, and it’s guaranteed to be bigger and better than ever. Combine bratwursts with tasty German beers, homemade sauerkraut, giant soft pretzels, polka dancing, antique car rides and tons of exciting activities for the entire family, and you’ve got one of the best Oktoberfests in the state. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free.

Richmond Oktoberfest

Celebrate German heritage at one of Virginia’s largest Oktoberfest Celebrations. The Richmond Oktoberfest is on its 46th year, and it has become one of the city’s most anticipated yearly events. Bavarian dancers, the crowning of the Oktoberfest queen, tasty German foods, Bavarian beers, wine and tons of other German-style treats and activities will be available for the entire family. The party starts on Friday, Oct. 17 and extends through Saturday, Oct. 18 at 11 p.m.

Martinsville Uptown Oktoberfest

The Oktoberfest International Arts and Culture Festival in uptown Martinsville is one of Virginia’s most authentic and unique Oktoberfest celebrations. Two streets will be blocked off for everything from fine art to kid-friendly bounce houses. Tons of food vendors, crafters, artisans and craft beer sellers will flood the streets to celebrate this showcase of art and German culture. The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Nestled in the Shenandoah Valley of Northern Virginia, the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park offers deep American history coupled with breathtaking outdoor scenery that simply shouldn’t be missed. These national park grounds served as a home for Native Americans, pioneers and soldiers that fought in the Battle of Cedar Creek. If you haven’t visited the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park in Virginia yet, you’d better start planning your RV getaway today.

Things to Do at the Park

The Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historic Park serves to protect the Belle Grove Plantation, the site of the Battle of Cedar Creek and the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley. Visitors can enjoy the Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP Visitor Contact Station, the Belle Grove Plantation Manor House, the Hupp’s Hill Civil War Park and the Cedar Creek Battlefield Plantation Headquarters.

Rangers conduct a number of regular programs to teach visitors about the rich history of the area, and a number of movies, tours and orientation programs are open to the public. The extensive list of events for the fall of 2014 are listed on the national park’s website, so you can plan your trip according to your interests.

Park Hours and Fees

The Cedar Creek and Belle Grove NHP does not charge any fees to its visitors, and the numerous ranger programs are open to the public as well. Non-park visitor facilities like the Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation and Belle Grove Plantation are not part of the national park’s non-profit organization and may charge a fee for entry.

The National Historic Park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but it is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day. The Belle Grove Plantation and Cedar Creek Battlefield Foundation may operate on different hours than the national park, so check their individual websites before visiting.

The 2015 Thor Axis

The Thor Axis is part of an entirely new breed of class A motorhomes. Thor calls the Axis an RUV; a recreational utility vehicle that’s small enough to be maneuverable and big enough to offer the perks of other class A motorhomes. With a full bathroom and kitchen and all of the comforts a compact home on wheels, you’ll realize this small luxury Class A offers far more features than any SUV on the market.

Two Floorplan Options

The 2015 Thor Axis comes in two different RUV floorplans. The 24.1 offers a sofa sleeping area with a pedestal table in the front of the vehicle, a full kitchen, spacious bathroom with shower and two twin beds (able to convert to one king-size bed) in the rear.

The 25.1 offers a different design with the dream dinette sleeping area and a drop-down bunk above the driver and passenger seats. A large galley-style kitchen, small bathroom and a corner sofa with pedestal table in the rear make the 25.1 a comfortable and spacious RV that’s only 24-feet in length.

Top-End Interior Comfort

The Thor Axis may be a compact motorhome, but you’ll never notice its size once you’re inside. With 82-inch ceilings, nickel hardware, LED lighting in the ceiling, comfortable Leatherette furniture, an oversized kitchen sink and designer finishes in the bedroom, you’ll probably feel like you’re in a luxury home instead of an RV.

Quality Construction and Exterior

The 2015 Thor Axis is special because of its rugged, comfortable and easy-to-maneuver design. The Ford E-350 chassis is ready for all of the road time you can throw at it, and the power patio awning, slide-out room awning, patio light, outdoor shower and convenient exterior storage spaces ensure you’re enjoying your RV lifestyle outside of the vehicle as much as inside.

Come Test Drive the RUV Today

Think the RUV experience could be perfect for you? Come take the 2015 Thor Axis for a test drive here at Reines RV Center in Manassas. We’ve taken nearly $25,000 off the MSRP of this groundbreaking RV, so you can feel comfortable driving it off our lot today.

Summer may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean your RV travels have to end. After all, the fall camping season offers more comfortable temperatures in many regions of the country, and the snowbird winter season follows shortly after.

To help you prepare for your upcoming fall RV road trips, we’ve chosen a few of our favorite products from the Reines RV Center online parts catalog.

Freedom Box Awning

If you’re one of the many RV enthusiasts who head south for the fall and winter, you’ll have plenty more days of warm air and sunshine headed your way. The Freedom WM 3.0M by Carefree of Colorado is one of the top box awnings you can get for your van conversion or truck camper. It’s available in manual and push-button models, so you can be lounging in the shade just moments after you pull up to the campsite.

LED Light Strip

The 16-foot-long LED light strip with remote by Facteon is perfect for those warm fall evenings spent outside. You no longer need to build a fire (unless you want to) or buy expensive porch lights, this inexpensive LED light strip easily turns on and off with a remote and offers fun special effects.

Super Streak Cleaner

Fall cleaning for your RV can be just as important as spring cleaning, and the Super Streak multi-purpose cleaner is one of our favorites here at Reines. It works great to remove black streaks and grime on your engine, tools, fiberglass, grills, awnings and just about anywhere inside or outside of your RV.

Two Bike Bumper Mount

This simple bike bumper mount by Swagman/Danik is one of the easiest to use on the market. It fits on any 4-inch or 4.5-inch square bumper, and is made of heavy-duty steel, so you can tote your bikes along on journey after journey. This particular model holds two bicycles, but for a slightly higher price, Swagman/Danik produces a four bike model.
