The 2015 Thor Axis

The Thor Axis is part of an entirely new breed of class A motorhomes. Thor calls the Axis an RUV; a recreational utility vehicle that’s small enough to be maneuverable and big enough to offer the perks of other class A motorhomes. With a full bathroom and kitchen and all of the comforts a compact home on wheels, you’ll realize this small luxury Class A offers far more features than any SUV on the market.

Two Floorplan Options

The 2015 Thor Axis comes in two different RUV floorplans. The 24.1 offers a sofa sleeping area with a pedestal table in the front of the vehicle, a full kitchen, spacious bathroom with shower and two twin beds (able to convert to one king-size bed) in the rear.

The 25.1 offers a different design with the dream dinette sleeping area and a drop-down bunk above the driver and passenger seats. A large galley-style kitchen, small bathroom and a corner sofa with pedestal table in the rear make the 25.1 a comfortable and spacious RV that’s only 24-feet in length.

Top-End Interior Comfort

The Thor Axis may be a compact motorhome, but you’ll never notice its size once you’re inside. With 82-inch ceilings, nickel hardware, LED lighting in the ceiling, comfortable Leatherette furniture, an oversized kitchen sink and designer finishes in the bedroom, you’ll probably feel like you’re in a luxury home instead of an RV.

Quality Construction and Exterior

The 2015 Thor Axis is special because of its rugged, comfortable and easy-to-maneuver design. The Ford E-350 chassis is ready for all of the road time you can throw at it, and the power patio awning, slide-out room awning, patio light, outdoor shower and convenient exterior storage spaces ensure you’re enjoying your RV lifestyle outside of the vehicle as much as inside.

July Events

The month of July is a special time of year for every American. The month almost begins with the day we show the world how proud we are to be independent and free. We take a moment to honor those that made America what it is today and we do that with fireworks, cookouts and gatherings. Even though July 4th is the major holiday in the month, there are a lot of other great events going on as well near Reines RV.

One of the largest firework displays in Virginia is held on the 4th in Manassas. It’s an All-American sand party held in Old Town Manassas and sponsored by the city. Bring your best lawn chairs and blankets and get ready for the show. There will be nonstop live entertainment starting at 4PM throughout the streets of the Old Town train depot, the Manassas Museum and Harris Pavilion. The games and rides start up at 3PM so get there early. There will also be great food and concessions as well as the red, white and blue hayride.

But that’s not all. If your passion is for baking, you might have what it takes to take home the blue ribbon for the best Apple Pie Baking Contest. Have fun competing with your neighbors for a $100 gift card to downtown Manassas. Second place wins $75, and third is $50.

Get your kids in on the celebration and sign up to be a part of the Chilren’s Bicycle Rodeo. This is your children’s chance to show their American Red White and Blue colors by decorating their bicycles. Prizes will be given out for the best decorated bike.

Want to see if your dad can win first prize in this year’s watermelon eating contest? Of course you do and taking plenty of pictures is a must. Dads sign up to get messy, have fun and win some great prizes. All age groups are welcomed to participate in the Watermelon Eating Contest. There are lots of fun activities this month so get out there with your Manassas RV full of friends and family and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Handy Food Recipes for Camping

Have you ever been out on the road and needed something quick for breakfast? We don’t always have the time to make a campfire and break out all of the pots and pans to cook a delicious and hardy breakfast. Here are a few from your friends at Reines RV that you can make ahead of time. Simply reheat and eat.

Muffin Tin Egg Breakfast

This is a fast and easy meal to make especially if you have a big family to feed. This recipe serves six.

  • 6 jumbo eggs
  • 6 strips of your favorite kind of bacon
  • Muffin tin

Start by cutting each strip of bacon in half. This will make a total of 12 pieces of bacon. Put 2 pieces of bacon into the bottom of every tin cup within the muffin tin. Place the muffin tin over a medium to high temperature grill or campfire allowing for the bacon to cook until done to your liking. Once done, crack open an egg into each cup of the muffin tin. Cook the eggs until done to your liking. You can play around with this recipe. You can add spinach, ham and cheese to please everyone’s taste buds.

Delicious Pancake Dippers

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 ½ tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 ½ cups buttermilk, room temperature
  • ½ cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 12 slices of hickory bacon
  • Maple Syrup

In a large mixing bowl, combine baking powder, baking soda, salt, flour and sugar. In separate mixing bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Combine the mixtures together stirring well until everything is mixed. Be careful not to over mix. In a large skillet, cook the bacon until crispy.

Once bacon is finished cooking, pour the batter into an elongated shape on a griddle making it a little bit bigger than your already cooked bacon slices. Place a slice of crispy bacon I the center of each log pancake and gently press bacon in to pancake batter. Pour more batter over the top of each bacon slice. Cook each pancake dipper until the pancake starts to bubble up and then flip until pancake is golden brown. Once finished, serve dippers with your favorite maple syrup and enjoy.

We hope you try these unique and handy recipes on your next Manassas RV camping trip.

How to Compost from the Road

https://www.flickr.com/photos/stefan-szczelkun/10891313263/sizes/z/

May 29th is National Compost Day, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by learning to compost from your RV. The RV lifestyle is already known as a “greener” way of living, but by learning to compost much of the waste you produce living on the road, you can help remediate contaminated soil, prevent pollution and enrich the soil around you.

Where to Compost

RV enthusiasts who stay in one location for a long duration of time have an advantage when it comes to making their own compost piles or containers, but with compost sites located in nooks and crannies across the country, you can almost always contribute your waste to a larger compost pile nearby.

How to Compost

If your RV is parked in one place for a long amount of time, you can start your own compost heap on a bare piece of ground, then transfer it to your garden or plants as needed. You can even sell your compost to other farmers and gardeners.

  1. Start by laying twigs or straw on the ground as a base for your compost heap.
  2. Add your composting materials on top, alternating between moist and dry layers. Moist materials include food scraps, seaweed, tea bags, etc., and dry materials are items like straw, ashes, leaves and sawdust.
  3. Add manure, wheatgrass, grass clippings or any other nitrogen source to the top of your compost heap.
  4. Water your compost heap to keep it moist (not soaked), or if you’re in an area with heavy rains, let the rain moisten it.
  5. Cover your compost heap with a plastic sheet, wood or any other covering to help the pile stay moist and warm.
  6. Aerate your compost pile every 2-3 weeks with a shovel to allow oxygen in.
  7. Continue to mix in new materials as you acquire them, and transfer the compost to your garden beds as needed.
