Rv recipe:Waldorf Salad Recipe

RV traveling has so many benefits and for first time recreational vehicle travelers, Reines RV has a selection of camper travel trailers and motor homes to take you along the interesting highways and byways across America. With different styles, sizes and types available, you’ll find the perfect fit for your vacationing adventures.

One of the many advantages of RV traveling is preparing a variety of tasty meals. Whether cooking on the stove, outdoor grill or lighting up a campfire for toasted smores, cooking is an adventure when you’re on the road.

One super easy recipe that satisfies the sweet tooth while still being healthy is traditional Waldorf Salad. Easy to fix ahead of time, this delicious salad serves as both a side dish and as a tasty snack when hunger pangs are at work.

Make up a large batch before leaving to last for 2 to 3 days and store and keep cool in a tight-fitting plastic container. When you run out, it’s easy to whip up another batch with a few key ingredients.

Waldorf Salad Recipe

  • 3 apples – core and chop one or a combination of two or three apples such as Granny Smith, McIntosh, Gala or Red Delicious into bite-sized chunks. Peel the apples or leave it on for a more colorful salad. (Note: take additional lemon juice and pour over chopped apples to help prevent browning while waiting to mix the salad.)
  • 1 cup celery – sliced into bite-sized portions
  • 1/2 cup walnuts – chopped but not too fine
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/8 teaspoon of regular salt
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of white granulated sugar or 1 and one-half teaspoon of honey
  • Optional ingredients include 1/2 cup of raisins, cranberries or halved seedless grapes and 1/2 cup of plain nonfat yogurt
  • Serve alone or over lettuce
  • Serves 6

Take a medium-sized bowl and combine with a whisk the mayonnaise with the lemon juice, sugar or honey and salt. If you used extra lemon juice on the apples, drain the juice before adding the apples to the mayonnaise mixture.

Stir in the walnuts and raisins or cranberries and mix thoroughly so the mayonnaise dressing completely coats all of the ingredients.

Place the mixture into a plastic container. Burp the lip to remove excess air. Place in fridge and chill.

Visit Reines RV and get everything you need to travel comfortably and efficiently including kitchen supplies from the camping store.

3 Helpful RV Lifestyle Tips

Reines RV knows that for those people who love the RV lifestyle — whether they own camper trailers, motor homes, fifth wheels or a different type of RV in Virginia — that you will pick up a few tips and advice during your camping travels. To help out those beginners who want to make their RV camping adventures as carefree as possible, we’ve compiled a list of tips you want to keep in mind before you take that first trip out on the road.

RV Lifestyle Tip #1: Practice Driving One Before Buying One

Driving, or towing, an RV is not the same as driving a car or truck. If you’ve never been behind the wheel of a large vehicle before, you should test drive one first. You will be surprised of all the changes you have to make to your own driving when you are out on the road in a Class A or Class C motorhome. This practice will also let you know which type of RV you want to purchase and can handle for long trips.

RV Lifestyle Tip #2: Make Checklists For Everything

Checklists are vital to ensure you have everything for your RV trip and that you have performed the proper maintenance before you leave. Have a checklist for your RV maintenance, a checklist for camping items, a checklist for purchasing ingredients for your meals, a checklist for packing clothes, and anything else that will help you to organize your things.

RV Lifestyle Tip #3: Don’t Forget Your Hoses

The top thing that RV beginners forget about or never consider when they go on their first trip is that they will be carrying their drinking water and wastewater with them wherever they go. This means, when it is time to empty out the tanks, they need to have the right type and length of hoses. Carry a white, non-toxic hose for your drinking water. Purchase a heavy duty sewer hose for your black water and gray water tanks. Ensure you purchase a 10-foot and 20-foot length of hose so you can reach the sewer connection at the dump stations.

Finding an RV for sale in VA can be an exciting experience. Yet you shouldn’t forget all the important things you need to do to maintain your vehicle while having a great time. Check out these important tips offered by your Reines RV dealer to make your life a little easier out on the road.

Deciding To Become A Full-Time RVer?

For some people, taking a trip in an RV means purchasing an RV for sale in VA from Reines RVand hitting the road for a month-long camping adventure. Other people have welcomed RVing as a permanent lifestyle. They have traded in their houses for these movable recreational homes so that they can live anywhere they choose at anytime.

If you are trying to decide to be a full-time RVer, you need to ask yourself several questions about your income, expenses and debts. By figuring out your personal finances, you can decide if you can actually support this lifestyle. Here are a few tips you can use that can help you decide.

Do you have job that allows for this lifestyle? There’s no point being a full-time RVer if your job forces you to stay close to a certain area. The wonderful thing about RVing is that you are able to pack up and go to a different destination where you can enjoy the sights. Consider the commute to work as a deciding factor. If you can telecommute or you are retired, then you may want to take the RV lifestyle route.

Will your RV costs be less than the costs to have a traditional home? You need to create a budget to determine if you can afford to live strictly in an RV. Often, these costs will be less than maintaining a home and paying property taxes. It all depends on how frugal, or extravagant, an RV lifestyle you want to have.

To figure out a budget, you need to write down what all your fixed costs and variable costs will be. Fixed costs are expenses that you will have to pay monthly — such as buying food, paying vehicle insurance, making RV payments, paying for your registration, making auto payments for your towing vehicle, purchasing propane, doing laundry and other expenses. Your variable costs will be one-time payments or occasional fees you won’t have to deal with every month. Variable costs can include RV maintenance, camping expenses, RV improvements, and entertainment. Figure out your particular budget and whether your income will cover all your costs to life entirely out on the road.

Will you carry a large amount of debt around? Some people believe that if they sell their homes and life in an camper travel trailer or motor home they will be able to better manage their debts. While living in an RV can be cheaper for certain people based on their income and expenses, don’t assume you will have an easier time paying off your debts this way. Remember that while you will no longer have a house mortgage, you will have RV payments.

Purchasing motor homes and travel trailers from Reines RV can be a great experience, and many people love being full-time RVers. You can adopt this lifestyle too so long as you take into account your financial situation.
