Many RV travelers use the long President’s Day weekend as the first RV trip of the new year. The National Parks Service offers tons of great presidential destinations for travelers of all ages, so get out and explore these historic places dedicated to our nation’s leaders.

Thomas Jefferson Memorial, District of Columbia

Washington, D.C., is one of the best places to see a number of presidential destinations in one vacation, and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial is one of the must-see sites when you’re in the city. Jefferson was one of our country’s founding fathers, author of the Declaration of Independence, a statesman and a visionary for the founding of the United States. Interpretive tours of the Jefferson Memorial take place every hour from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Andrew Jackson’s The Hermitage, Tennessee

Visit the plantation home that was once owned by Andrew Jackson, our nation’s seventh president. The home, also known as The Hermitage, is just 12 miles from Nashville, making it the perfect place to visit on your Tennessee road trip. The Hermitage is open from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and visitors can take part in a number of self-guided tour packages, offering access to the mansion, exhibit gallery, grounds and a number of other sites.

Woodrow Wilson’s Boyhood Home

If you’re hoping to visit a presidential destination in a warm-weather destination this year, the Boyhood Home of President Woodrow Wilson in Augusta, Ga., is the place for you. Woodrow Wilson’s boyhood home is located within the boundaries of Augusta’s historic district, so you can enjoy one of our country’s great historic cities on your getaway too. The home is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
